Getting started

What should I set up first?

Add a printer for each machine you own, then add your spools of filament or bottles of resin. After that, log a print: pick the printer and material, and when it finishes, record how long it took and how much it used. The setup checklist in Tools walks you through the first steps.

Is 3DCDesign free?

Yes. The download is free, and so is everything for running your own workshop: printers, spools, prints, the print price calculator, quotes, maintenance, guides and backups. Business Premium is an optional subscription for sellers who need invoices and other business paperwork.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no login. The app keeps your profile on your device, and that is all.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later, from the App Store, and Android 8.0 or later, from Google Play.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Logging prints, tracking spools, the calculator, the guides and your stats all work offline. You need a connection to subscribe or restore purchases and to open links to websites, and printer connections need your phone on the same network as the printer.

How do I log a failed print?

Open the print and mark it Failed, record the time and material it used, and note what went wrong. Failed prints take their material off the spool too, so your stock and your success rate stay right.

Backups and moving to a new phone

Are backups free?

Yes, always. Making a backup, previewing it and restoring it never needs a subscription, with or without your photos.

How do I make a backup?

Open Settings from Tools, go to Backup and restore and choose Backup data. Decide whether to include your Gallery photos and videos, which makes the file larger. The app keeps the backup in its Saved Backups list and opens your share sheet, so you can save a copy wherever you keep files or send it to yourself.

What's in a backup?

Your 3DCDesign records, such as printers, prints, spools, customers, invoices and your document history, plus your Gallery photos and videos if you include them. PDF files you saved from the PDF viewer are not inside the backup, so keep copies of any you need. Printer passwords and API keys are never included.

How do I move to a new phone?

On your old phone, make a backup and save or send the file somewhere your new phone can open it. Install 3DCDesign on the new phone, open Settings, go to Backup and restore, choose Restore backup and pick the file. The app checks the file and shows you what it holds before it restores anything. Afterwards, enter your printer passwords or API keys again, and if you subscribe to Business Premium, tap Restore Purchases.

Before I delete the app, what should I do?

Make a backup and save a copy outside the app first. Backups kept in the Saved Backups list are stored inside the app, so they go when the app goes. 3DCDesign never deletes a saved backup on its own.

Does a backup move my subscription?

No. Business Premium belongs to the App Store or Google Play account that bought it. On a new device that uses the same store account, open Business Premium in the app and tap Restore Purchases.

Printer connections on your network

Which printers can connect?

Klipper printers through Moonraker, OctoPrint and PrusaLink, on your own network. Connections are optional. Every other printer works with manual logging, and manual logging always works for connected printers too.

How do I connect a printer?

Open Tools, then Printer Connections. Let the app look for printers on your network, or type the printer's local address, such as http://octopi.local or its IP address. Add the API key or password if your printer needs one, then test the connection.

Why can't the app find my printer?

Make sure your phone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi or wired network and that you allowed 3DCDesign to use your local network. Guest networks, VPNs and phone hotspots often block the search. If the search still finds nothing, type the printer's address by hand.

Can the app control my printer?

Only if you let it. Connections start read-only and show status. You can turn on controls for one printer at a time, and every command, such as pause, resume, cancel or an emergency stop, asks you to confirm before it is sent. Which commands appear depends on what your printer supports.

Where are my printer passwords and API keys kept?

In your phone's secure storage. They are never put in backups, CSV exports or support files, so you enter them again after you restore on a new device.

Can I try it without a printer?

Yes. In Printer Connections, tap Add test printers. You get practice Moonraker, OctoPrint and PrusaLink connections that never contact real hardware, and you can delete them when you are done.

Pricing and subscriptions

How much is Business Premium?

US$2.99 a month or US$29.99 a year. Local prices vary, and the App Store or Google Play shows the price in your currency before you subscribe. The app itself is free.

What does Business Premium add?

Creating, finalizing and correcting invoices (Invoice Studio), purchase orders for your suppliers (Purchase Order Studio), customer rate cards, playbooks, statements and payment receipts (Customer Operations Pro), an accountant export (Business Handoff Pack), what-if pricing (Advanced Local Scenarios) and more than 10 active customers.

How do I cancel?

Cancel in your store account; deleting the app does not cancel it. On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. You keep Business Premium until the end of the period you paid for.

What happens if I cancel?

Everything you made stays yours: you can still open it, edit drafts, prints, spools and customers, record payments, export it, back it up and restore it. You just can't create or finalize Business Premium paperwork, including a draft you already started, or make more than 10 customers active, until you subscribe again.

Can I get a refund?

On iPhone and iPad, ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Google Play, ask Google within 48 hours of buying. After that, email help@3dcdesign.com about a refund. We never see your payment details.

Can I subscribe on this website?

No. Business Premium is sold only in the App Store and Google Play, inside the app.

I started using 3DCDesign before version 2.3. Do I need it for invoices?

No. A workshop set up before version 2.3 keeps creating invoices without a subscription, and its active customers are not limited to 10. Purchase orders, customer rate cards, playbooks, statements and receipts, the accountant export and what-if pricing still need Business Premium.

Privacy and your data

Where is my data?

On your phone or tablet. Your records stay on this device unless you export, share or save a backup file. Apple or Google may include app data in your device backup, depending on your settings.

Does 3DCDesign collect any data?

No. The app has no account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no crash reporting, and both app stores list it as collecting no data. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google.

How do I delete my data?

To delete a record, open it in the app and delete it. Before you uninstall, delete your printer connections so their saved passwords are removed too. Uninstalling removes the app's records and files. On iPhone and iPad a few small settings, such as your profile name, can stay in the device keychain. Delete any backup files you saved elsewhere too, and remember that Apple or Google may keep app data in your device backup, depending on your settings. There is no account to close, and we hold no copy of your records.

Does this website track me?

No. This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no forms.
